Good Questions

FAQ

Everything people ask us at the market, answered.

What types of grains do you offer?

We currently grow and mill Hard Red Winter Wheat, Hard White Winter Wheat, Soft White Winter Wheat, Turkey Red Wheat (a heritage grain), Einkorn Wheat (an ancient grain), Rye, and Buckwheat. We are always trialing new grains — let us know what you would like to see.

Is your flour really milled fresh?

Yes. We mill in small batches on a granite stone mill in Holden, Missouri, and every bag is marked with its mill date. Nothing sits in a warehouse.

Do you use any chemicals, additives, or bleaching agents?

No. Our flour contains exactly one ingredient: the grain. No pesticides in storage, no additives, no chemicals, no bleaching agents, and no preservatives.

How should I store fresh-milled flour?

Fresh-milled flour keeps its flavor best used within a few weeks at room temperature. For longer storage, keep it sealed in the refrigerator or freezer — the natural oils in the germ are what grocery-store flour removes for shelf life, and they are worth protecting.

Can I buy in bulk?

Yes — we offer 25 lb and 50 lb bulk bags at a discount. Bulk orders are picked up at one of our farmers market locations. Contact us to arrange a bulk order.

Do you sell to bakeries and restaurants?

We supply fresh-milled flour to businesses in the Kansas City area. Reach out by phone or email and we will set you up.

Can I buy wheat berries instead of flour?

Absolutely. Whole wheat berries are available for home milling, baking, sprouting, or feed. Contact us or find us at the market.
